Description: The saga of the Unified Worlds, which began with Ganwold's Chic and continued with Echoes of Issel, is the story of one military family at the center of politics and war on a cluster of colonized worlds far away in space and time. The patriarch of the family, Admiral Lujan Serege, is Commander in Chief of the Unified Worlds' special forces, known as the Spherzah. His former enemy, the breakaway world of Issel, needs the assistance of the Spherzah to resist attacks by the alien masuk slavers. During negotiations for this aid, Lujan is critically injured by a terrorist bomb. The damage to his nervous system renders him almost entirely without sensation or control of his body.
