Description: Frip is a town near the sea. It consists of three houses, one occupied by a little girl named Capable and her widower father, the other two by the Romo family and the Ronson family, both of whom turn out to be really mean. Gappers are little, slow-moving, orange Velcro-esque creatures who every day crawl out of the sea and attach themselves to the goats of Frip-goats whose milk provides the town with its livelihood. The children of the three families have to scrape the Gappers off and put them back in the ocean. One day one of the Gappers figures out that Capable's house is nearer to the water than the other two, and all the Gappers make Capable's goats their destination of choice. The goats are overwhelmed. Capable is overwhelmed. Her father has since his bereavment led a life of overwhelmedness. When the neighbors refuse to help, what unfolds, in words and pictures, is a hilarious morality tale, as classic and as multi-layered as an old-fashioned fairy story, and as modern as two certified young American geniuses -- one verbal, the other visual -- can make it. It will appeal to every age group and will become a landmark in collaborative publishing.
