As Taelons and humans alike seek to possess the power of the crystal, the crystal indeed falls into the wrong hands. In a near-cataclysmic meeting, the Taelons and their human protectors, Liam Kincaid and Lili Palmer, join as one to fight the monster. But it is Young who saves the Taelons and humanity from near destruction by reaching back into her Native American past to find the monster's weakness and finally destroy it.
