Cave of the Bookworms
- Publisher: Stone Arch Books
- Publish date: 01/30/2008
Description:
What a combination of the unlikely! Thrills, kids, chills, books, and librarians! The Creeping Bookends (Stone Arch Books, 978-1-4342-0486-8) takes place in the Library of Doom, "the world's largest collection of strange and dangerous books." A young boy gets locked inside the library, where "he was reading behind a tall bookshelf." Strange things happen. Cave of the Bookworms (978-1-4342-0489-9) is even creepier with dreams and monsters, but this reviewer knows that had her sons had access to this book in particular, it would now be limp from reading and rereading. The Stone Arch Adventure books are the kind that kindergartners will check out for their parents to read out loud, but they are also learning books for older children. Reminiscent of the Lemony Snicket series, author Michael Dahl and illustrator Bradford Kendall have chosen and highlighted six to eight vocabulary words in each book through repetition and graphics. For librarians who save the day and kids who like a little bump in their night, these books are ghouliscious.
